"The Reverend T. Watt Leggatt, of Sunbury, recently wrote to this Department intimating that he had been asked to celebrate a marriage between a young woman named Margaret Wilson and Schnider(sic). It appears that Miss Wilson about 2 weeks ago gave birth to a child of whom Schnider is the father. Mr Leggatt inquired whether the man could be naturalized or whether we could in any way allow the young woman after marriage to retain her status as a British subject pending her husband's successful application...
