Memorandum, Foemander, 12 March 1915: Australia-born. 40. German husband. “The Police report that at the outbreak of the present war, it was alleged that Germans used to meet at Mr Schreiterer’s residence at night and until the early hours of the morning, signalling… Inquiries made about the locality show that the Misses Schreiterer [daughters] in their social conversation are decidedly in sympathy with the German Empire in the present war. The Police are of the opinion that the application should be refused.’ Refused by minister, 12/3/15
