b in South Australia in 1879, but married a German, now widow. Wants to buy land but can’t as an enemy alien. Details from cover letter to Hunt, from Barwell & Hague, Solicitors, 9 June 1917. Husband migrated as child. Didn’t know she wasn’t already a subject. She used the old forms. New forms sent to her on 12 October 1917. Returned in November, and Barwell & Hague write again on 10 Dec 1917 to ask for urgency because of the land purchase situation.
Both Police Reports favourable. Hunt writes to Barwell & Hague on 21 Dec 1917 to say appl not processed now. They write again on 11 March 1920 to ask if application will now be considered. Approved June 1920.
An addition to the 1917 form was to add spaces for applicants to state current nationality, nationality of father and nationality of mother.
