Memorandum, Foenander, 10/3/16, p.4: German. ‘applied on the 3rd ultimo to be naturalized (Cabinet decided not to naturalize such applicants on the 8th ultimo).’ Solicitors tell that she has ‘contributed to several patriotic funds… encouraged one of her cousin’s sons, a Lieutenant, to enlist with the Expeditionary Forces, and three other sons to join a Rifle Club… Sergeant Blair has known the applicant for over twenty years’. Approv 11 March 1916 signed as ‘Special case’ by the minister (M)
p.8 Police Report, 29 Feb 1916, makes clear she lived with male cousin and family in Sydney all of time in Australia as housekeeper and that’s how she influenced the sons. Lots of detail about cousin (even though dead)
