Further comments

Maria came to Australia via New Zealand on the SS Maheno an ocean liner belonging to the Union Company of New Zealand that operated in the Tasman Sea, crossing between New Zealand and Australia, from 1905 until 1935.

Letter attached from an "Acting Secretary" to say that "no person is eligible to make application for naturalisation who has not resided in Australia continually for two years immediately preceding her application. I observe that you have had only 13 months in the Commonwealth. In the circumstances, it will be necessary to apply again on the 1st March 1908."
