Memorandum, 12 July 1915, W Momander (?): 55 and b. in South Australia to German parents. Late husband unnaturalized. She has farm at Yanac 'which she works with the help of her two sons and a daughter... quiet, inoffensive woman, not mixing much with her neighbours: Is respected throughout the district and has never been heard to express German sentiments... a fit person'.
'Recommend.' A.H., 13/7/15
Police Report, Constable McBride, 30 June 1915: almost verbatim the Memorandum (which is clearly based on this report). Knows the woman since she moved to the farm 11 years before.
Cover letter of report has 11 different signatures of different police and possibly other officials - on stationary from Chief Commissioner of Police, to the Undersecretary of Chief Secretary's Office.
Thank you from her solicitors, R. E. Lewis & Son, Solicitors, Melbourne, 2 August, 1915.
